It was a great step for them to hold a constant evaluation per day, so that they understood what is the lack of their work to be covered on next section. This camp is very special camp, the students from President University took a great ownership by handling this camp perfectly. Besides, this is the first camp where almost all of the expenses were covered by their own donation and sponsorship. They worked hard to get their own sponsor without asking too much from GPFIF. They are such great students.
James Poon, as the speaker, given an inspiration to all participants about what One Family Under God is and what The vision and mission of Global Peace are with his fun style. In the Night time, Nadya delivered the importance of Heart to Heart, it opens the participant’s heart and the atmosphere was turns into closer feelings. When they started share their life story, some of the participants was so touch and almost tear drop from their eyes, some was softly cried. Continued after the most touching session, we were gather outside to have Bon Fire session, it turns into fun and joyful time. Where all the laughter, crazy dancing, and attractive performance made participants drowned in happiness. Bon Fire is really best way to create lots of joy in togetherness. It was quite challenging for them at the beginning, as the committee were asked them to gave their attractive performances to entertain all of us.

Global Peace Volunteer Camp Teaches Service for Personal Transformation
Thirty nine students from universities and senior high schools in Indonesia attended the Global Peace Volunteer (GPV) camp at Puncak on July 9-10, 2011. The main aim of the GPV camp is to raise young leaders to live for the sake of others and become examples in building a culture of service. Participants learned that developing intellectual knowledge through years of school without developing the heart and qualities of character can lead to lack of balance. Raising leaders with integrity, where mind and heart are in balance, will ensure greater peace and prosperity for the nation.
“The important thing in our life is our starting point, the vision,” one presenter told the students. “To be employed in Disneyland, a person needs to go through training to understand the vision and dreams of Walt Disney. Centered on your vision, you work hard to realize it.”

The Global Peace Volunteer (GPV) 2.0 workshop, held in Bandung, Indonesia, May 14-15, 2011, drew more than 30 GPV alumni, challenging participants to strengthen their minds and hearts to build a culture of service on their campuses.
The GPV 2.0 program went beyond the lectures and discussions of earlier workshops. Following presentations on core values of living for others and moral and innovative leadership, university students were put to a “service learning” test by raising funds to purchase a wheelchair for a Down’s Syndrome child who also is afflicted with polio. Participants were sent out for the activity without anything, with sometimes struggling and unwilling hearts, yet they found the motivation to raise the funds in excess of the goal given.

Challenging students to simplify their lives, disconnect their cell phones, and experience the vision of One Family under God, the first Global Peace Volunteer Camp convened in Bandung, Indonesia, on February 26-27, 2011. Fifty students from the Institute Manajeman Telkom, Muhammadiyah University, Padjadjaran University, the London School, and Universitas Nasional explored the role of volunteer service in peacemaking at the camp, hosted by the Global Peace Festival-Indonesia with the support of Institute Manajeman Telkom.
Inspirational lectures and videos encouraged students to be future leaders by recognizing the importance of character as the foundation for genuine leadership. "True love is grounded in good character," GPVC Education Director James Poon told them, saying that maturity and an ethic of living for others was “a foundation for successful marriage and citizenship to build a nation of prosperity.”

Global Peace Volunteer Camp participants learned through lectures, group discussions and community service projects. |
Through team sports competitions and revealing group discussions that explored the many trials that make life beautiful and meaningful, the diverse students grew close in heart, supporting and encouraging each other like brothers and sisters in a big family. Participants were also touched by the video “Ryan’s Well,” which told the story of a seven-year-old boy following his dream to help African children get clean drinking water by helping build wells.
Service was an integral part of the camp experience. Inspired by the story of Ryan’s well, participants found that community service was a ready way to practice “true love action.” Some gave time to help a father of three who started work at 3AM and worked soometimes as late as 10PM, yet who’s income was only Rp25000 or less than US $3 per day. The students’ efforts even touched a community member who joined the project after seeing the example of the camp participants.
